Bible Stories
Camp E.D.G.E. Vacation Bible School 2009 focuses on teaching your kids that their strength and might come from God. Camp E.D.G.E. ensures the Bible lessons learned during VBS are both prominent and memorable.
At opening assembly, children learn of a symbol they need to be on the lookout for throughout that day’s VBS. At the end, they learn the symbols they’ve found each day are the Greek letters for the ichthys, a Christian symbol for “Jesus Christ God’s Son Saviour.”
As children trek through Camp E.D.G.E., they will learn that God is with them, God guides them, God teaches them, God loves them, and God send them out to share the news. These truths are reinforced as each day Camp E.D.G.E. Vacation Bible School takes them on an exciting journey to a new Biblical destination.
After, children will get into the action as they participate in Scripture Checkpoints. These Scripture Checkpoints coincide with each day’s extreme sport. For instance, building kayak oars from paper or using a compass. Upon completion, they will receive their daily Dog Tag Scripture Treasure. Each treasure has that day’s Bible teaching on it to ensure children Experience and Discover God Everywhere, not just at VBS.
Session One: Trek to the Promised Land
Bible Story: Joshua 1:1-1; 3:1–4:18
Scripture Checkpoint: Do not fear, for I am with you, do not be afraid, for I am your God. (Isaiah 41:10)
E.D.G.E. Pledge: God is with me. I will stay close to God.
Session Two: Trek to Bethlehem
Bible Story: Matthew 2:1-12
Scripture Checkpoint: I am the Lord your God, who teaches you for your own good, who leads you in the way you should go. (Isaiah 48:17b)
E.D.G.E. Pledge: God guides me. I will follow.
Session Three: Trek to the Pharisee’s House
Bible Story: Luke 14:7-14
Scripture Checkpoint: You call me Teacher and Lord – and you are right, for that is what I am. (John 13:13)
E.D.G.E. Pledge: God teaches me. I will learn.
Session Four: Trek to the Upper Room
Bible Story: John 13:3-20; 13:33–14:30; 16:12–18:1
Scripture Checkpoint: This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. (John 15:12)
E.D.G.E. Pledge: God loves me. I will love God and others.
Session Five: Trek to Galilee
Bible Story: Matthew 28:1-10, 16-20
Scripture Checkpoint: And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation.” (Mark 16:15)
E.D.G.E. Pledge: God sends me. I will go.
